Di Mano in Mano and DESTacum December 15, 2024: two cooperatives, one shared event. All You Can Read Piacenza
All You Can Read by Di Mano in Mano was launched in 2019 and, since then, each edition has attracted hundreds of readers eager to enjoy a true feast of culture. The event has proven to have great potential in spreading the message of reuse and recycling, and has brought us closer to organizations that share similar values and projects.
This is the case with the DES Tacum Social Cooperative, which contacted us with the idea of bringing our brand and format to its audience. And so, since DES Tacum is based in Piacenza, preparations began for an All You Can Read event dedicated to indulgent book feasts—paired with plenty of gnocco fritto.
United we are stronger, and this is the reason why we enthusiastically embraced the request to collaborate with an organization we feel very close to. DES Tacum is also a cooperative that creates opportunities for the reintegration of disadvantaged people and embraces “an integrated vision of the territory that values the human and relational dimension, promoting lifestyles oriented toward critical consumption and respect for the environment,” as stated in their manifesto.
On December 15, All You Can Read by Di Mano in Mano and DES Tacum in Piacenza was a great success: in just one day, over 400 bags were sold and around 7,000 second-hand books found new homes. In the wonderful setting of Palazzo Ghizzoni Nasalli, we saw bags overflowing with books carried on the shoulders of adults and children alike—the former searching for yet-unknown titles, the latter immersed in the magic of thousands of new stories. There were also many young international university students who came specifically to stock up on books to learn Italian.
In short, a true melting pot of people, all brought together by a love of reading and a growing awareness of reuse as a sustainable lifestyle choice—embraced in every sense.
