Description
Oil painting on canvas. Attribuable to the Italian period of the french artist (spent in Rome between the years 1747 and 1761), comparing to the 'Roman Landscape with Ponte Milvio' of the Sestieri Gallery in Rome (see L. Salerno, The Painters of Views in Italy (1580-1830), Rome 1991). In this artwork, Lallemand also shows the links with the figurative culture of artists operating in Rome such as Andrea Locatelli, Adrien Manglard, Lacroix and above all Claude Joseph Vernet, whose landscapes are similar, compared to his 'Landscape with Lake Nemi' (1748).
