Oil on canvas. In the higher right corner the depicted subject is identified with John Lord Crewe, English legislator and politician, later appointed as Baron. On the lower frame a label cites Lord Thomas Crewe of Stene, John's son. On the back there are different labels, one of which identifies the subject with Thomas again, second Baron of Stene, and it attributes the painting to Peter Lely, the most cherished painter and sketch artist of the 17th century's England Reign. Lower, a label belonging to the London restorer with the restoration date (1957). Restored and relined. Presented in a frame. Mid 17th century.
