Oil on canvas. Probably a preparatory sketch of a larger work commissioned by a church. Strong pathos and fast lines, the work seems to be made by an artist from Bergamo, basing on Giovanni Carnovali's work. The unconventional structure of the painting focuses on the Apostles, while the Virgin Mary is not even depicted. The strong humanity of the Apostles is well represented by their different emotional reactions, which represent the hearts of the believers, according to the artist. The canvas comes from a prestigious private collection. It is presented in an antique gilded frame.
