Oil painting on canvas. John Carteret - second Earl of Granville (1690 -1763) - was an important British diplomat and politician of the 18th century (Lord chairman of the board from 1751 to 1744). The large portrait depicts him on official business while commemorating his investiture to Earl happened in 1744. Name, title and date on the top right. The painting is provided with certificate of authenticity issued by Bucaro Antichità in Gorla Minore (VA), Italy. Already restored and relined, it is presented in revival frame. 1744.
