Oil on cardboard. Signature in the lower right corner. Luigi Bocca was one of the major representatives of Verism in Vigevano, which was part of the Social Art, also called the Art of the Humbles because of the depicted subjects belonging to the lower classes. Art was especially used to denounce their condition. The artist painted also other subjects such as portraits and he was also an interior designer. He studied in Milan and he moved to Chiavari where he frescoes churches and villas. The small glimpse belongs probably to this last period and it depicts a beach in Liguria with boats. Coeval frame.
