Oil painting on canvas. the summer season is here traditionally depicted as a woman holding a bundle of ears on one arm and a sickle on the other hand. She is crowned with other ears and poppies. A sleeping child lies at her feet, watched by a young woman: the scene - together with some winged cherubs - recalls Goddess Ceres, Roman divinity of earth and fertility, tutelary deity of harvesting and goddess of birth as well. Already restored and relined, it is presented in gilded frame of the early 20th century. 18th century.
