Oil painting on canvas. Signature and date in the lower right corner. In the surreal and quiet atmosphere of the sunset on a level countryside where shapes and shadows are indistinguishable, the young peasant fills the scene. She is standing and looking at the fire below the water kettle. Her face stands out on the still light sky in the background while her body blurs with the surrounding ground. Very suggestive. Presented in frame. 1891.
