Oil painting on canvas. St. Zeno lived during the 4th century a.C. and was Bishop of Verona. The painting depicts a glimpse of the city in the lower portion. The Saints Sisinio, Martyr and Alexander were three young clerics from Cappadocia and were sent by Ambrose Bishop of Milan to evangelize the region of Anaunia (Val di Non) where they were brutally killed by the local pagans. In this scene, the Bishop of Verona who died a few years earlier than the three young martyrs, accompanies them towards the sky where the angels are waiting with the palms of martyrdom. The painting, already restored, is presented in revival lacquered frame. 17th century.
