Oil on board. Signed and dated at the bottom right. On the back, the label of the "Galleria d'Arte S. Ambrogio", Via Manzoni, Milan, for the artist's solo exhibition in 1969. Evocative and romantic view of Manzoni's district of Lecco, located on the left bank of the Adda, with the jagged peak of the Resegone in the background. Mario Borgiotti was an important exponent (as well as president for a decade) of the Labronico Group, the group of painters founded in Livorno and active since 1920, linked to the pictorial experiences developed in Tuscany; also important was his commitment to trade and collecting works of art - an important private collection of 19th century Tuscan works was exhibited, contributing to the knowledge and appreciation of modern painting, and imposing himself as a connoisseur of the most important Italian movement of the 19th century , the Macchiaioli. In 1955 he moved to Milan, via Manzoni, where he remained until 1976, promoting exhibitions of his collection and both personal production in the main cities of Italy and the world. This work refers to his Milanese period, which allowed him to approach the Lombard landscape.
