Description
Watercolor on paper. The artist's signature, Coleman, and the location, Rome, are found in the bottom right corner. The scene takes place in a big room, probably a private bathroom in Ancient Rome where an Eastern servant is combing her domina's hair. Francesco Coleman was son of Charles, painter and etcher, and the brother of the best known Enrico. He lived and worked in Rome, where he distinguished himself as a watercolourist. He was particularly able in genre and figure painting; he priviledged everyday life scenes, especially with historical setting - mostly in Ancient Rome or in Eastern countries. Framed.
