Description : La passeggiata per le vie dell'Antica Roma
Watercolor on paper. The artist's signature, Coleman, and the location, Rome, are found in the bottom right corner. Two Egyptian slaves are carrying a young lady on a palanquin. They are walking through the streets of Ancient Rome, under the intrigued glare of men wearing togas. Francesco Coleman was son of Charles, painter and etcher, and the brother of the best known Enrico. He lived and worked in Rome, where he distinguished himself as a watercolourist. He was particularly able in genre and figure painting; he priviledged everyday life scenes, especially with historical setting - mostly in Ancient Rome or in Eastern countries. Framed.
