Description : Natura morta con beccaccia e mais
Oil on canvas. Signature on the bottom right corner. Virgilio Ripari's style is considered to be late Romantic because of his languid and sentimental view of reality. His painting present fading colors and diffused luminosity. The painter attended the Brera Academy; he was very close to the patriotic spirit of his times (he enrolled with Garibaldi and participated at the Third War of Independence), he then lived in Milan where he was notorious: his artistic production was appreciated by a good part of the wealthy bourgeoisie. This painting is presented in a coeval gilded frame which requires restoration.
