Description : Susanna ed i vecchioni

Oil on copper. The scene, recurring subject in the paintings of several centuries, is based on the biblical episode recounted in chapter 13 of the Book of Daniel: Susanna, a young woman is very beautiful and pious, is coupled by two old men who frequent the house of her husband and manage to break into his garden sorprendendola while bathing. Inflamed with lust, they threaten to charge her surprise with a young lover if you do not grant them. The refusal of the woman, accuse her publicly of adultery, but Susanna is saved from death by stoning by the intervention of Daniel, who exposes the deception and so begins his path of the prophet. Very close in composition to the homonymous work of Jan Brueghel - in the setting at the lake with the columns, the fountain, with flowers, in the colors of the clothes of the two men , the work refers to one of his followers, which was inspired by the masterpiece of the master. The painting is presented in a frame style.
