Oil on canvas. Signed in the bottom left of the page. A humble man, shy and reserved, appreciated teacher for many years at secondary schools in Palazzolo sull'oglio, his native country, Matteo Pedrali is remembered by his countrymen as "sweet, dear, gentle poet of the brush". Among his favorite subjects were the beloved horses (the grandfather didn't care to thoroughbreds from Hungary), the self-portraits, genre scenes, still lifes and landscape painting, that, starting from the early forties, he is by now consolidated poetics of twentieth-century and knows a sudden turn of expressionism.
