Description : La traslazione della Santa Casa di Maria
Oil on canvas. The sacral scene shows the Vergin Mary holding Beby Jesus who are being brought to heaven on a cloud by a rank of angels; next to her, on another cloud ther is her house of Nazaret. The story of this miracle starts in 1291, year after the falling of the last christian fortness in Holy Land when crusaders were sent away. Some days before their final defeat by the muslims, the Holy House of Nazaret was detached from her foundations and was brought by the angels to Tersatto that today is a distric of Fiume in Croatia: that happened suddenly during the night between 9th and 10th of May 1291. The Holy Home where Virgin Mary was born, place of the Annunciation and of the Incarnation of Our Lord, Where Baby Jesus was raised by Mery and Joseph, was protected from the threat of destruction by Turks. After the hous was moved other four times, landing at the end, in 1926, to the current location, Loreto. The painting had been restored and comes with coeval frame.
