Oil on canvas. Signed on the lower left corner. Rodolfo Morganri, teacher at the Albertina Academy of Turin, his hometown, was widely known as interior decorator ( in 1858 was nominated "decorator and restorer by royal palaces") and restorer, but mostly recognizable as painter of historical and allegorical subjects; there were also several portrais in his prodution. In his late prodution there are also several female nude, related not just to the mythology, that express the sence of the spiritualization of the body through enphasized sensuality and elegance. In the painting in question the young woman is represented sleeping in a sensual, but elegant and relaxed, position on her bed, partially covered with a voile and a refined yellow fabric; the shene recalls an atmosphere of well-being and serenity thanks to the whole composition and to the choice of warm and embracing shades. Ther is an identical version of this painting with the addition of a fan and flowers in he left hand that had been auctioned at the Della Rocca in Turin in 2003 with the title "Sleeping Beauty". Displayed in a mid-20th century frame.
