Oil on canvas. The School In North-Italy. The dramatic scene of the deposition of the body of the dead Christ in his mother's arms, is depicted with intensity and pathos: in front of the tomb carved in a cave, that is from the dark background to the figures, cross each other in a game of oblique lines and the bodies of the Madonna,in blue robes, and that of Jesus, abandoned on the lap of the mother,white as the shroud that surrounds it; next, mourn the unhappy Christ, two angels, whose presence gives a touch of vitality to the scene of death, in particular, the gaiety and movement of the two, one that indicates with the hand-the stigmata of Christ, the other that observes the curious, distracted in his task of helping to hold the inert body; their presence also refers to the component of the supernatural and divine event. In the first canvas, with traces of a previous restoration, the painting is presented in a frame style.
