Description : Santa Maria Maddalena ascolta la predica di Cristo
Painting on leather applied on canvas. Venetian School. The piece originates from a fresco by Federico Zuccari (1539-1609), realized in 1564 for the Grimani Chapel of San Francesco della Vigna in Venice, which has been destroyed but it is known through the carvings of the Dutchman Cornelia Corr and of Aliprando Caprioli. The painting reprises the compositional structure of the original piece, even with a reduced number of the characters portrayed and some changes in their poses. It is centered around the figure of Christ on the throne, like the original, set higher than the two groups of figures; in the one on the left the figure of Magdalene can be recognized and stands out for the opulence of her clothes. The painting has some paint losses and small wrinkles in the leather. It is presented in a frame in style.
