Oil on hardboard. Signed at the bottom right. Serafini was born in Montelupo Fiorentino, son of a fisherman and a bagger of flasks; he worked as a ceramist and was a painter for passion since he was young but because of the poverty of his family he couldn't afford the paint so he invented a panting and engraving technique. He had been discovered in 1970 by Antonio Possenti that introduced him as a naif painter. In 1976 he exposed at Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and then in other several cities: Milan, Viareggio, Bologna, Frankfurt, Siena, Nice. He had always portraited his world, the poverty, the humble jobs. Unmistakable are his oxen and doves, the men and women with a rough appearance and the big eyes wide open, immersed in an atmosphere that expresses all the genuine sincerity of the author. The painting comes with frame.
