Female Figure with Fruit

Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower right. A young half-naked woman, with red hair crowned by a leafy wreath, is seated in a languid pose on a sofa covered with damask fabric, beside a basin full of variegated fruit and a goblet of wine, which she herself filled with amphora holding with one hand. It is a voluptuous portrait, with a clear hedonistic meaning, but made with liveliness and freshness of colors, bright and serene. It is a work of the Hungarian artist Maria Szantho, who before embarking on a career as a painter was a talented pianist. The recurring subjects of his pictorial production are the portraits of women, naked or semi-naked, posing indoors or with landscapes in the background. In the hedonistic models that he brought to his canvases, details taken from romanticism and impressionism are observed. His love for music is also reflected in painting, where the women portrayed are often accompanied by musical instruments. The painting is presented in a styled frame.

Oil painting on canvas. Signed lower left. On the back this further signature with the title, and cartouche of the Ardenza art gallery (a district of Livorno). Carlo Pupi is a Livorno artist born in 1939, who mainly deals with genre paintings that he interprets with lively realism. His pictorial style, fast and cursive, shows a certain impressionistic tendency, in line with the whole school of Labronica. The work is presented in a frame.

In a romantic atmosphere, highlighted by the blue-pink shades of the sky, a verdant countryside is depicted, crossed by a small river (which runs to the sea in the background and populated by villages on its banks), on which some figures male and female in classic tunics, they engage in conversations. Flight to Egypt 1991

Acrylics on board. Accompanied by authentication on autographed photo of the author, with stamp of the Verlato Gallery in Milan. The work presented here is part of the rich series of works called by the artist Cristalli, due to the reference to the geometries of these minerals, which he considers containers of energy and light. On a three-dimensionally shaped board with asymmetrical protruding points, recalling the structure of a crystal, Jori paints elements that emerge from the background, with chromatic choices that all refer to the same range but with different shades, to emulate the reflections of light. This work is made up of three elements, of different sizes and shapes, which are proposed horizontally juxtaposed, albeit without touching each other: on the black background, the shapes of some geometric shapes emerge, in increasingly lighter shades of gray up to white, architectural structures, evoking houses along a road, the path made by the Holy Family in the flight to Egypt to seek salvation from Herod. The work comes from an important Milanese private collection.

Pleasant rural scene, with numerous figurines of wayfarers and shepherds with the beasts, scattered in the wide meadows and on the path that leads to the river; in the background a blue lake, with ruins. Glimpse of the Sea with Fishermen

In the Gulf of Naples, identifiable by the Vesuvius in the background, on a sandy stretch of coast a group of fishermen with their women pull the boats ashore. Light and colors fill the atmosphere of the scene. The Neapolitan artist Fausto Pratella, son of Attilio, initially followed his father's leave, painting marine full of light and movement, like the one proposed here, but soon wanted to depart from Attilio's wake, choosing different subjects and techniques, which led him to paint the cold peripheral parks of Milan, bringing in his canvases the evocative visions of those greens, those grays, those browns saturated with that humid and foggy vapidity typically Lombard. Colorful flowers in a white vase, and some fruit scattered across the table, are rendered with large, overlapping brushstrokes, in bright colors on a light background to create a bright and vibrant effect. Teonesto Deabate was a Turin artist who devoted himself not only to painting, but also to other forms of applied art: ceramics, interior decoration, illustration. His pictorial production belongs above all to the post-war period and is made up of landscapes, still lifes but also figures, made in watercolor oil: in it the search for light-color relationships is fundamental, to create sensations of finesse and sensitivity through subtle tonal combinations and elegant arabesques. In Val di Susa

Oil on the table. Signed lower left. On the back there is a partially torn cartouche with the name of the author, the title and residue of the label shows on the Italian landscape. Born in Domodossola and approaching painting and sculpture as a self-taught, Follini subsequently studied at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, as a pupil of Antonio foranesi. Skilled landscape architect, he chose and dedicated himself exclusively to this subject, portraying, with great poetry, many views of the Alps but also seascapes and landscapes of the places he met in his frequent travels to Italy and Europe. Praised by critics and supported by collectors, he participated in major exhibitions with a dense production, characterized by an elegant stroke and a loose and expressive brushstroke. In this painting an Alpine glimpse with a pastoral figure is proposed. It is presented in a contemporary frame.

Color aquatint. Signed lower left and right in pencil; serial number 160/200 lower left. Pierre Bonnard, French painter, printmaker and photographer, began painting while studying law in Paris, but soon abandoned the art of forensics to devote himself only to painting. In 1888, at the Julian Academy in Paris, Pierre bonnard founded with Paul Sérusier, Maurice Denis and Paul Ranson, the group of painters Nabis (Prophets), a group that drew on the works and poetics of Paul Gauguin in their aesthetic ideals. , for the overcoming of Impressionist naturalism through a return to primitive and Japanese art. In 1891 Pierre Bonnard created his first label for a wine company, some lithographs for "La Revue Blanche" (where the Nabis met) and also designed furniture and decoration projects for screens involving Toulouse-Lautrec with the decorative quality of his paintings and his personal use of color. In 1892 he exhibited some of his decorative panels at the Salon des Indépendants, beginning to interest art critics. Little by little the painter abandoned the gray academic tones and enthusiastically experienced the encounter of art with the world of colorful common things. His works, soon recognizable of the iridescent colors, the bright lines and the open perspective, were widely appreciated. In 1896 he held his first solo show, and his fame spread to Europe with exhibitions in Sweden and Norway. Passed under the influence of the current of Art Nouveau, Bonnard became interested in Japanese prints, very fashionable in the Parisian artistic world at the end of the nineteenth century, to the point of carrying some traits in his paintings: Bonnard will be nicknamed the "Japanese Nabi". With his friend Edouard Vuillard, he also developed a new interest in the scenes of intimate domestic interiors, a genre that would become known as "Intimism" and which proposed the Parisian world in the years before the First World War. In 1910 Pierre Bonnard discovered the south of France and thus began to paint luminous landscapes. In the last twenty years of his artistic career he continued to paint, ranging in all subjects and in all techniques congenial to him, creating decorative paintings but also numerous sketches and drawings, lithographic works in color or in black and white, posters, illustrations for books and magazines that have influenced modern art. The aquatint presented here is part of a large 1920s production of this subject, the "woman with dog", proposed in many variations. It is presented in a frame.

Oil painting on canvas. Dated and signed on the back. Born in Seregno, Danilo Martinis was trained with Osvaldo Minotti. Painter and designer, he has furnished prestigious residences all over the world, his works are particularly appreciated in the United Arab Emirates and in Russia. He loves to express his thoughts through graphic-figurative images rendered through geometric effects and chromatic games, using mainly female figures as interpreters. In this work he proposes a close-up of a female face, enhancing its expressiveness through the play of colors in the ranges of yellow.
