Description : Rinaldo e Armida

Oil on canvas. A copy of the famous painting made by François Boucher (1703-1770) in 1734 and preserved today in the Louvre Museum in Paris. On the back there is an unidentified name, probably the author's. The dimensions are slightly smaller than the original and the beautiful hand honours the original masterpiece by the famous French painter. The scene, taken by an episode of Jerusalem Delivered by Torquato Tasso, faithfully depicts the moment of amorous conviviality between the hero Rinaldo and the sorceress Armida, who look at each other in a mirror lost in mutual passion in the garden of a rich palace, surrounded by cherubs; in the shadows of the columns on the right, the faces of Carlo and Ubaldo emerge: they are the two crusaders sent in search of their mate Rinaldo. The painting, restored and relined, is presented in a gilded frame from the mid 90s, with minor damage.
