Group of twelve "manillas" (coin bracelets), in different alloys and with geometric decorations, coming from a much larger private collection of an important Milanese family. These objects, coming from the sub-Saharan area of West Africa, where they were produced with the dual purpose of corporal decoration and form of hoarding (often nuptial coins)They were imported in large quantities by European merchants who bought them at vile prices to sell them by weight.
