Lean oil on canvas. The scene depicts a goddess on a chariot flying above the clouds, driven by another girl and with two winged cherubs at her side, while a battle rages below. The scene is taken from the fifth book of the Iliad: while Achaeans and Trojans are engaged in battle in the plain in front of the city, the goddess Aphrodite, wounded after saving her son Aeneas, accompanied by Iris flees from the battlefield on the chariot of Ares, to return to Olympus. The oval painting, with clear decorative intent, has small drops in color. In a strip frame.
