Description

Gilded brass double-feed monocular, with 1X and 2X magnification and covered with leather; it comes with rear lid. Signed on the front "Ramsden London". Jesse Radmsen was one of the most important English makers of scientific instruments in the second half of the 18th century; he was the inventor of one of the first dividing machines, useful for drawing graduated scales, and one of the main instruments he built was the great astronomical circle of the Palermo Observatory.
