Description : Ritratto femminile
Oil on canvas applied to the table. On the back there is an attributive cartouche, which indicates the painting coming from the collection of Leon Philippet's son. The Belgian artist, trained in Liege, moved to Rome where he lived for a long time; here he founded the Les Belges atelier with the idea of transforming it into an Academy, similar to the French one in Rome. Philippet frequented the popular areas of the city and painted people in their environment; he is remembered in particular as a painter of genre scenes and popular subjects of a Roman setting. The painting is presented in a mid-20th century frame.
