Description

Two volumes that introduce us to the genesis of Kubrick's 2001 masterpiece A Space Odyssey: in the first volume the text of Clarke's story from which the film is taken with annotations in red marker by the director: the provisional title of the Journey beyond the stars project is preserved ; at the end of the volume is inserted the March 1969 issue of Mad magazine with the comic "201 Min. of a space idiocy" which satirically criticizes the film. The second volume, entitled "2001" is composed of the script cards dated June 18, 1965: "The following notes were made during a series of production conferences held in New York in May, 1965. They are more or less verbatim, and have been edited only slightly for the sake of clarity, continuity and compression. The discussiones were broadly based on the synopsis date March 23, 1965, under the title "Journey beyond the stars", which itself was based on the original Film Story by Stanley Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke.
