Bamboo

This term indicates the wood obtained from grasses of the bambusoide family. This cylindrical wood with interspersed knots, similar to cane, has always been used by the oriental populations to make furniture for common use. Imported to Europe at the beginning of the 19th century, it was mainly used in the construction of light furniture, for the garden or for the veranda. However, the name "bamboo furniture" also indicates furniture in beech worked, turned and repainted in imitation of bamboo, made since the eighteenth century.
