Mariolino da Caravaggio, stage name of Mario Feraboli (born in Fontanella del Piano as Michelangelo Merisi, called “Caravaggio”, hence the pseudonym) had a great talent as a "forger" from a very young age. His ability to make "copyright copies" is so proverbial that, had it not been for the intellectual correctness of the painter who signed the "fakes" with his pseudonym or even added the wording "forger", his works would have serious difficulty not a few experts. He had an extraordinary and adventurous life, full of courageous choices, such as his activity as a partisan that led him to face eight years in prison in San Vittore, where he continued to paint and created one of his most important works. In the course of his prolific creative activity, Feraboli has made dozens of "copyright copies", ranging from classical masters, such as Leonardo, Bruegel, Tiziano, Caravaggio, and Giorgione, passing through the great nineteenth century, including Renoir, Boldini and Monet, to modern artists, first of all Picasso, de Chirico, Morandi and Guttuso.
