Description : Martina
Oil on canvas. Signed and dated lower right. Title on the back. Fulvia Levi-Bianchi, originally from Trieste but educated in Milan, has devoted herself to painting, sculpture, and design, moving from her early figurative works of the 1960s, where academic influences of surrealism are still evident, to the large-scale portraits, sculptures, and paintings of the 1970s and 1980s, where the language becomes metaphysical and philosophical. These works established Fulvia Levi-Bianchi as an internationally renowned artist, leading her to exhibit in museums and galleries around the world. She has painted portraits of many famous people. Here is the portrait of a friend.

Additional Information
Artist: Fulvia Levi-Bianchi (1927-2006)
Born in Trieste in 1927, Fulvia Levi-Bianchi moved to Milan as a young woman, where she attended the Brera Academy. She had been active since the late 1950s (her first exhibition in Milan was held in 1957 at the Galleria Montenapoleone). Establishing deep ties with these masters and friends of those years, she sought and found her own language and pursued her own research: the representation of the essential, the purest and most instinctive form, which corresponds to the egg. This soon became a favorite theme, expressed and represented in painting, sculpture, her design creations, and in her experimentation, which led to a pictorial and plastic technique that allowed her to eliminate the mark, leaving only light and volume free to expand and vibrate on the canvas or in space. Galleries and museums around the world have exhibited and sold her works. In 1970, she began working for the renowned Greek-born gallerist Jolas in Athens, Madrid, and New York. Immediately acclaimed in the United States, Fulvia divides her time between Milan, New York, and Los Angeles, where in recent years—before her death in 2006—she exhibited for Barbara De Vorzon's gallery. Her portrait of Farah Diba, created in 1968 for the coronation of the Shah of Persia, is noteworthy, as are her portraits of figures from the worlds of politics, sport, and culture, from Strehler to Gorbachev, from Schumacher to Montezemolo, from Veronesi to Copperfield.Age: Contemporary

Technical specification: Oil on Canvas
