Oil on canvas. The title "Campagna romana" is an old pencil inscription on the back. A Grand Tour painting, it features a glimpse of a popular village featuring the remains of classical columns; several figures enliven the scene, while a small town can be seen in the background. The work is presented in a period frame.

Oil on canvas. Artist unknown (inconsistent signature G. Induno at the bottom). Genre scene inside a rather humble home, in which an old man sitting on his bed welcomes the embrace of his visiting grandson. The tenderness of the gesture of affection and dedication between the two figures contrasts with the poverty of the dwelling. The painting is presented in a period frame.

Color lithographs. Painter and illustrator Marcus C. Stone made a name for himself with his soulful portraits and literary scenes. These two lithographs depict scenes set in the gardens of elegant villas, one depicting two couples engaged in romantic conversation, the other enjoying a tea ceremony. The two prints are presented in elegant contemporary gilded wood and fabric frames.

Oil on canvas. Flemish school of the 19th century. Looking at the genre painting of the previous centuries, the scene presents the rather dark interior with few surrounding elements of a tavern in which two popular characters sit, represented as caricatures: the empty glass on the table, the purple noses, the glances and the winking grimaces, the immoderate poses reveal the state of alteration of the two men, who are thus enjoying themselves in their misery. The work is presented in a period frame.

Oil on canvas. Tasty depiction of popular life with caricature-like figures: three full-length commoners are depicted on the street while they converse intensely with each other, exchanging confidences or... gossip! Unsigned, the painting requires restoration due to a tear at the bottom.

Oil on canvas. Northern Italian school of the 19th century. The landscape depicts a wide countryside that opens onto the Alpine mountain range, preceded by the gentler pre-Alpine hill slopes; on the central path, which runs straight and perpendicular to the reliefs, a commoner is passing with his mule. The atmosphere is that of the end of the day, with pink shades illuminating the snow-capped peak. A very similar subject can be found in the production of the circle of Carlo Canella (1800 -1879), the Veronese artist known above all for his city views. The work is presented in a late 19th-century frame.

Landscape with River and Figures 1878

Watercolor and pencil on paper. Signed and dated lower left. We know of several landscape views of the English countryside by the English painter Henry Clifford Warren, mostly painted in watercolour. Here is a view of a wooded countryside crossed by a wide river, with a shepherd leading his cows to graze on the hill in the foreground. Presented in a frame.

Oil painting on canvas. Northern European school of the early 19th century. The painting, according to nineteenth-century taste, aims to propose more of a genre scene than a landscape: in the foreground, in a barren countryside landscape with traces of snow, the figures of a small family descending from a sort of sleigh stand out. made of wood, filled with straw and pulled by a horse. Restored and relined, the painting is presented in a gilded wooden frame in style, with several defects.

Oil on canvas. French school of the late 19th century. Trace of unidentified signature at the top right. In the foreground, the faces of two popular characters who seem caricatured, perhaps characters in a theatrical performance: it seems the scene of a satirical courtship, with the man who looks lasciviously at the woman, certainly not young and attractive, who is holding a bunch of flowers with an expression between resigned and confused. The painting is presented in a frame from the early 1900s.

Ornaments and Ancient Vases

Hand-colored etchings. Created by Michelangelo Pergolesi in 1777-1778; the colored decoration is a posthumous work, dating back to the 19th century. Pergolesi designed and created furniture, fireplaces, ceilings, chandeliers, doors, and wall ornaments in the neoclassical style, working primarily in England. The drawings for these etchings are numbered and likely belong to the "Disegni per Vari Ornamenti per 70 Piatti" (Designs for Various Ornaments for 70 Plates), published between 1777 and 1801. The two etchings are presented in exposed frames.

Crayons on paper. Genoese school, 17th century. Formerly attributed to Luca Cambiaso (1527-1585), the drawing is considered slightly later. It depicts two cherubs picking fruit from a tree, an allegory of life. It is presented in a period frame.

Oil on oval panel. The painting reflects 18th-century pictorial styles: in a broad landscape with mountain peaks in the background, a river flows, flanked by houses; at the center of the scene, a stone bridge spans it, over which several figures walk, while other characters go about their daily tasks on the path or along the river itself. The painting is presented in a contemporary gilded wooden frame.
