Description
Antonio Tiraboschi (1838–1883) was an important Italian linguist and historian, a promoter of the Bergamo dialect. Among other things, he was the director of the Society of Mutual Aid between Artists and Workers, through which he promoted the education of workers by organizing evening schools; he also established a traveling library to distribute books and educational materials, thus reaching even the lower classes of the population. His works include: the Bergamo Vocabulary (1862), the Vocabulary of Ancient and Modern Bergamo Dialects (1873), and the Collection of Bergamo Proverbs (1875). Our copy is a second edition of the 1873 Vocabulary.
