Glimpse with Ligurian Villa

Oil on hardboard. Signed lower left. From his earliest days, the refined Lombard painter Carlo Costantino Tagliabue demonstrated a profound fascination with the study of light and color, firmly adhering to the dictates of Divisionism while developing a more intimate and less Symbolist personal style, focused on the pure rendering of the transparency of the air and the solidity of rock under the sun. A landscape painter, he primarily depicted locations in Lombardy and nearby Liguria. The work is presented in an early 20th-century frame.

Self-portrait

Pen on paper. Signed and dated lower right; title on the left. On the back is a dedication signed by his son Gian Maria Arata, dated 2000. Francesco Arata, originally from Cremona, was primarily a landscape painter who straddled the boundary between classicism and innovation. His work includes numerous portraits, especially from his Milanese period, but here the artist expresses himself through a sketched ink drawing that emphasizes the facial features, dominating the rest of the head and body. Presented in a frame.

Glimpses of Milan

Three oil paintings, two on the front and back of a panel, and the third on canvas board. All signed at the bottom. They are presented in book-hinged frames, with a view of Milan Cathedral on the outside of the panel, and two views of tenement houses on the inside. Giuseppe Viviani, an artist from Pisa, primarily established himself as an engraver, a craft he taught for a long time at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. He also devoted himself to painting, seeking above all to express emotions through color, so much so that he called them the "colors of the soul".

Mountain Landscape

Oil on panel. Signed lower right. Trained in the school of Tallone, Moretti Foggia was primarily a landscape painter, creating veristic views characterized by a very bright and textured palette, primarily depicting his native Ossola Valley or the Alpine peaks. Mountain huts and figures of shepherds with flocks are also recurring features in his landscapes.

Fishing Boats

Color lithographs. Signed in pencil. The French painter and engraver Guinegault created numerous views and landscapes, both of Paris and the coasts of northern France, often featuring fishermen. The two lithographs are presented in bamboo frames from the 1960s.

Oil on panel. Signed lower right R.lo Pellegrini. It is probably a work by Romolo Pellegrini, who lived between the 19th and 20th centuries, an artist of landscapes and still lifes with delicate colors. Here we see a bright, flat countryside, with a flock of sheep grazing in the meadows, watched over by the shepherd. The work is presented in a contemporary frame, with missing parts.

Lights from the Lake, 1960

Oil painting on canvas. Signed and dated lower right. The painting, coming from a private collection in Pavia, is published on page 73 of Simona Morani's monograph dedicated to the artist Primo Carena (Bolis editions), with the presentation signed by the art critic Rossana Bossaglia. The lake landscape well expresses the subdued intimacy associated with the rigorous realism that characterize the pictorial production of the painter from Pavia. In his landscapes Carena tends "to capture the atmospheric reality of the places without indulging in descriptivism... but constantly supported by a lyrical vein, which is the underlying motif of all his production". The work is presented in a period frame.

The Man in the Kitchen

Mixed media on paper. Signed lower center. The renowned Russian set designer, painter, and illustrator Nicola Benois, who was the chief set designer at Milan's Teatro Alla Scala from 1935, contributed some of his drawings in 1977 to illustrate Francesco de' Rogati's book, "La cucina dell' uomo solo" (SM editore, 1977). The original drawing, which later served as the cover illustration for the text, printed in a smaller format, is shown here. Framed.

Scene with Figures, 1950 ca.

Oil on canvas. It belongs to a group of works called Jeux de Symboles, created from 1945 to 1950 approximately, in which ORAZI's painting moves towards the production of the so-called Peinture du Mouvement, characterized by the work on the dynamic effects of the human body (and animals) in motion, emphasized by the strength of color. Color dominates this scene, strong, acid, bright color, which outlines almost geometric human and animal figures, with marked and clear contours, in which two different ethnic groups seem to be recognized in comparison. The canvas has small losses of color. It comes from the artist's family collection.

Segnali 1991

Mixed media on paper. Title on the bottom left. Artist's stamp on the back with title, date and signature. Caccioni, an artist who was born, trained and still lives in Bologna, is one of the protagonists of a generation that has now reached a definitive linguistic maturity and occupies a prominent place within the contemporary artistic panorama. His research mainly uses unusual materials such as acetates, PVC and, more recently, stage backdrops from 19th-century theatrical works, on which he intervenes by painting shapes drawn from a personal memory and from suggestions coming from different cultures and historical periods. A recurring element in Luca Caccioni's work is writing, a self-signifying sign that designs the work and is capable of recounting thoughts; working by superimposition, the images are constructed by adding or subtracting color on the various supports. Untitled, 2003

Mixed media on paper. Signed and numbered on the back. Copy No. 40 of an edition of 350, of which the first 50 copies are numbered and signed by the artist. These works were created as an attachment to the Catalogue of the 1040th exhibition at the Galleria del Cavallino -Venice, held in October 2003 and dedicated to the works of Paolo Patelli, as indicated in the colophon of the brochure, where there is a further signature of the artist and dedication. Paolo Patelli, an artist of Istrian origins, expresses the joy of painting, creating works that are enriched by his passion for music. The rhythmic spirit of the artist's style captures movements, translating them into a visual language that breaks the mold of traditional artistic models, making every line and every brushstroke visible, leaving a wide exposure of the paper surface.
