Description

Fortunato Depero was a celebrated Futurist painter, sculptor, set designer, and poet. Our volume is a rare first edition of Liriche Radiofoniche, published by Morreale in 1934. As the author's introduction notes, some of the lyrics were created specifically for radio broadcasts (hence the title), while others nevertheless contain the essential elements required for radio broadcasts, such as short texts, a variety of images, invented languages, a simultaneous and playful style, and so on. The result is a volume brimming with creativity, rich in free-flowing words, onomatopoeia, and a fast-paced rhythm. "Liriche radiofoniche" is the author's second book, published twenty years after his 1913 work "Spezzature." It also contains seven black-and-white reproductions of drawings by Depero himself and a photograph by Mario Castagneri.
