The Shepherdess

Oil on canvas. A beautiful figure of a young girl in traditional pastoral costume, elegant in her gold-fringed vest, her hat with a peacock feather, her earrings, her water bottle on her belt, and her hooked staff held firmly in her hands: it seems more like a portrait in folk costume than a real figure of the people. Pesenti became famous for his views of interiors, often of churches, but also for genre scenes with popular figures. The painting has been restored in the past. It is presented in a period frame.

Ploughing in Bugey

Oil on canvas. Signed lower right. On the back is a cartouche from the Société des Beaux-Arts de Lyon with the title "La bourage en Bugey." Terraire, who lived and worked for many years in Lyon, specialized in mountain landscapes in the southeastern regions of France, including Bugey (a historical and natural region in the Ain department, between Lyon and Geneva). His landscapes feature recurring figures of animals, grazing herds, and farmers going about their work. The work has some old patches visible on the back. It is presented in a contemporary frame, with several missing parts. Cows grazing in Saint Jean de Sixt, in Haute-Savoie, near La Clusaz, a subject in which the artist specialized. His broad, colorful touch is perfectly suited to the sumptuous landscapes he depicts, preferably choosing motifs with a slightly high horizon line to best convey the majesty and grandeur of our Alpine panoramas.

Chiquito Futbolista de Tanger 1982

Sanguine on paper. Signed and dated in Roman numerals lower right. The title at the top right. Claudio Bravo Camus was a Chilean painter who established himself above all for his compositions (particularly parcels) and hyper-realistic portraits, including those of eminent political figures. Rightly considered one of the greatest masters of hyperrealism, Claudio Bravo pursued photography in painting, but always starting from the direct observation of the objects themselves: "The eyes see much more than the camera: half tones, shadows, minute changes of color and lights,” he said. The portrait presented here, that of a well-known Moroccan football player, exudes a meticulous and mimetic realism, particularly in the man's gaze; it was created during the years in which the artist lived in Tangier, where he had taken refuge to escape Franco's dictatorship. It is presented in a frame.

Interior scene

Oil painting on canvas. Not signed, but on the back there is a dedication "Alla signora Clelia Mazzioli, con stima Gaetano Bellei 23 gennaio 1909". The big scene, set in a popular kitchen, sees a woman reading cards to two girls, who ask for explanations by pointing to the figures that appear and seem to compare them with a text leaning on the chair. The work recalls the painting of Gaetano Bellei, due to the strong realism with which the painter painted above all scenes of daily peasant life; he is considered a master of the depiction of human affections and of human reactions and sensations. The painting has slight drops of color. It is proposed in a stylish frame.

We created Atypical Systems 1963/74

Serigraphs and photos. The work consists of three silk-screened cartoons (in cardboard box) with the text in English (original title "We have created atypical systems") and six photos portraying the artist, individually framed. On the back of the three serigraphs in English, numbered in sequence, there are the edition number 13/15, the date 1974 and the artist's signature; they also accompany three unsigned serigraphs with the text in Italian. Cioni Carpi, Milanese artist, engaged in conceptual and minimalist art, produced works in which imagination, sensitivity, expressive flair were fundamental. His creativity was also expressed in photography, installations, video, drawing, writing, the artist's book, as well as painting. The dimensions indicated are those of the single frame.

Oil on canvas. A beautiful twentieth-century copy of Canaletto's work, created around 1736. The painting is in a private collection but is known for its printed reproductions, particularly in Visentini's series of etchings from 1742. The view depicts the Venetian town of the same name, with the church of San Salvador on the left and the Scuola Grande di San Teodoro in the center. Numerous figures, elegant gentlemen strolling, commoners, and artisans intent on their work, enliven the scene. The work, much larger than the original, has a striking decorative and scenographic impact. It is presented in a period frame.

Gouache on cardboard. The view of the Bay of Naples at night, illuminated by the erupting Vesuvius volcano, is part of a large production for tourism, due to the evocative beauty of the location. The work is presented in a period frame.

The broad view spans a harbor in a large gulf, likely that of Naples; seen from the heights of the hills behind, it features two popular figures ascending a wide path in the foreground. Gouache on cardboard. The view of the picturesque grotto on the island of Capri is part of a large production for tourism, due to the evocative beauty of the location. The work is presented in a period frame.

Sledding on the Snow

Tempera on cardboard. Signed lower left. Russian artist Egorov has made a name for himself with his views of the Russian winter countryside, blanketed in snow and often animated by horse-drawn sleighs carrying villagers. The work is framed.

The Morning of the Roses

Oil on canvas. This is a copy, with minor variations, of the famous painting by Giovanni Giani, currently housed at the Quirinale Palace in Rome (purchased in 1906 by Queen Margherita). The work depicts a young woman in white in a moment of suspended expectation, sitting on a windowsill in the garden, surrounded by flowering rose bushes. The figure evokes a delicate and melancholic atmosphere, representing a symbol of expectation, purity, and youth. The work is an example of the Verist-Art Nouveau style of the Piedmontese artist Giani. Our large-scale painting recreates the strong decorative impact of the original. It is presented in an early 20th-century frame.
