Copy in good condition. Original paperback preserved with the title "Risate esplosive." Browned hardback binding with gilt titles on a tag on the spine: abrasions to the curved corners, to the caps, and to the lower portion of the spine, where part of the binding is missing (slighter abrasions also on the upper portion of the spine), serious cuts to the hinges. Brown stains on the front cover of the paperback, abrasion to the upper edge of the first flyleaf, ex-libris stamp and blind stamp of the Italian Authors' Society on the title page. Browned pages, especially at the edges, well preserved with occasional foxing; more intense foxing on the last leaves. Some side edges of the leaves are irregular. Of note: brown stains on pages 160 and 161. A black and white photograph on glossy paper is included between pages 171 and 172. Text in Italian.

Description

Laughter and Explosive Razor Slashes Against Visible and Invisible Beards is a book on Futurist art and literature published by Fernando Cervelli in 1933. Cervelli (1902–1934) was a publicist, humorist, and theater figure. The volume is a collection of words-in-freedom, theatrical summaries, drawings (by Giacomo Balla and Renato Guttuso, among others), caricatures of various artists, and poems. The main themes are satire, the celebration of speed and the machine, and social criticism through irony: typical elements of the production of Futuredizioni Le Smorfie, which perfectly embody the transgressive spirit of the Futurist movement. The short preface is by Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. Inside are black and white plates and cartoons, a photograph of the author as a five-year-old child dressed as a bersagliere, and a glossy, out-of-text photograph of Mussolini purchasing the pamphlet "Marianna fa la panna" at the 1932 Rome Book Fair.
