Paperback contained within a hardback jacket with title on the spine, traces of dust and minimal signs of wear. Paperback with double dust jacket, one transparent and one paper jacket: scattered foxing on the transparent jacket, smaller foxing concentrated at the edges on the paper jacket. Uneven side and bottom edges. Papers in excellent condition, with slight uneven edges. Text in Spanish.

First world edition of 507 numbered copies. Ours is copy no. 266. The appendix contains "Adios a Tallone," written by Neruda on the occasion of the death of his publisher and friend. Here is an excerpt: "Farewell, Alberto Tallone, great publisher, dear friend: once you carried light in your eyes, now night travels through them. But in your books, those small castles of man, beauty and clarity continue to shine: night will not enter through those windows." We read in the colophon: "These prose poems by Pablo Neruda were composed by hand with the types written by Alberto Tallone and collected by Charles Malin in Paris. There are 507 examples printed as follows: 12 in Japan Hodomura paper, 25 in Japan Hosho paper numbered in Roman figures and 470 examples on paper of the Miliani de Fabriano manufactures numbered from 1 to 470 in Arabic numerals. Printed on the 5th of July 1969 in the printing house of Alberto Tallone in Alpignano - Italy.
