Nella mostra dedicata a Curzio Malaparte, ideata e organizzata dalla Fondazione Biblioteca di via Senato vengono esposti per la prima volta alcuni documenti dell'Archivio Malaparte acquisito nel 2009 dalla Fondazione. Come primo atto dopo l'acquisizione dell'Archivio (che consta di circa 300 faldoni, contenenti manoscritti e dattiloscritti originali di opere edite e inedite, articoli di giornale, documenti personali, lettere e fotografie), l'esposizione vuole testimoniare i fatti salienti della vita del giornalista e scrittore, attraverso documenti e fotografie, senza giudizi o preconcetti, cercando di rendere giustizia alla sua figura di intellettuale a tutto tondo, apprezzato e conosciuto ancora oggi più all'estero che in Italia. Malaparte fu arcitaliano in tutti i sensi perché, pur di padre tedesco, fu ben radicato nella tradizione culturale italiana più autentica, rivendicando in ogni momento la propria toscanità; in un'epoca drammaticamente travagliata come la sua, seppe conoscere e raccontare finemente gli italiani, i loro pregi e difetti, in un costante e sincero confronto con le diverse culture incontrate nei suoi viaggi in Europa e nel mondo. Fu soprattutto un attento lettore del suo tempo, sia a livello politico, sia letterario, comprendendo prima e meglio di altri la natura della modernità che si andava faticosamente attuando intorno.
