Corner with Mirrored Upper Part

Early 1900s two-door mahogany corner cabinet, on the top rests a corner etagere with a gilded rococo style mirror.

Oil on canvas. In a Nordic landscape, with mountain ranges in the background and green hills, a small herd of cows is placed in the foreground, watched by a shepherdess who, sitting to rest on the edge of the road, indicates to the dog at her side the small castle, the probable destination of their journey. The painting, relined, presents small but widespread losses of color and scratches. It is presented in an early 1900s frame.

Africa, Late XX Century

Iron “Sengese” throwing knife with leather handle, produced by the mafa/matakam group of the Kirdi, a population living in the Mandara Mountains between north-western Cameroon and north-eastern Nigeria. The metal eyelets were used to attach a rope or an anchor chain. This type of knife was often used as a ceremonial emblem that manifested the social status of the owner.

Africa, Late XX Century

Bronze reproduction of the plaques of the ancient Benin kingdom of central-southern Nigeria, depicting a high dignitary with a feathered headdress surrounded by four warriors. The original plaques, made by the Bini (Edo) artists between the 15th and 16th centuries using the lost-wax casting technique, decorated the pillars of the audience hall of the royal palace until 1897, when the city was occupied by the English and the palace was destroyed. Today they are preserved in the British Museum, in the National Museum of Lagos in Nigeria and in other important international museums.

E più lunghe e arrovellate si fanno le giornate davanti alla pagina bianca, più chiaramente emerge che la storia di un amore che nasce e di un amore che muore è l'unica che abbia senso raccontare.
