Scenes from the Gospel

Tempera on panel. The icon is divided into different scenes, which tell biblical episodes, mainly from the Gospel. The largest central scene shows the risen Jesus who lets himself be recognized by the Magdalene above and by the disciples gathered in the Upper Room below; all around, episodes that start chronologically at the top left with the three Angels of Shechem, and then touch on various evangelical moments in the life of Mary and Jesus. The didactic intention of the icon, a form of story and explanation of the scriptures using the visual tool for illiterate people. The panel has several falls and cracks of the color, with a larger central lack. It has rear reinforcement (one strip is missing).
