Vintage ceiling lamp with four light points; white lacquered metal and chromed metal structure, glass bowls

Oil on canvas. In an Italian landscape, the scene is centered on a group of commoners who are trying to get away from the besieged and burned city, carrying their goods on the cart and leading the small flock; a small group of enemy soldiers, however, has chased them and is trying to stop them, with their weapons drawn. On the back of the frame there is a pencil inscription that attributes the work to Jan Both (1618 -1652), a Dutch painter known above all as the author of Italian landscapes, often animated by figures. The painting has been restored and relined in the past. It currently requires cleaning. It is presented in a period frame.

In alternativa alla pratica corrente di demolire e sostituire le strutture dissestate, specialmente lignee, degli edifici di interesse storico artistico, l'opera è basata sulla convinzione che tali strutture possano e debbano essere riparate secondo corretti criteri di restauro che rendano minimo il sacrificio degli elementi e dei materiali e che parimenti non ne snaturino la stessa concezione generatrice (in tal modo riducendo anche i costi).

L'anno 2440 è infatti quel futuro nel quale il processo storico, governato dal principio del progresso, realizzerà quella società, descritta attraverso l'espediente narrativo del sogno; o almeno farà maturare le condizioni per la sua realizzazione.
