Description

The Sunday newspaper began its publications at Bemporad under the direction of Luigi Bertelli, alias Vamba, the publishing house's leading author in the children's literature sector, in June 1906. From the beginning the publishing enterprise was aimed at a segment of ages between 7 and 14 and to a specific social class, that of the emerging urban bourgeoisie, to provide “reading that is instructive without tiring attention; that it is an educator without being boring." Over the years, important authors such as De Amicis, Deledda, Salgari, Capuana, Negri and many others collaborated on the newspaper, and the best illustrators of the time worked, including Rubino, Dudovich, Brunelleschi, Tofano. In 1911 an economic crisis led to its first closure, with a resumption of publications in 1918 with the publisher Emilio Somigli always under the direction of Vamba. In 1920 the magazine's animator died: we have the issue, n.49, which announces to young readers the passing of their beloved director. Various changes of publisher followed until the definitive closure in 1927. With numerous illustrations, mostly in black and white and some in color nt and black and white photographs nt
