Antique Document Case Ebony Veneered Wood XIX Century - Netherlands, Late XIX Century

Paris, 1825-1830 ca

Travel kit from the Charles The mercury easel mirror, fixed inside the lid by two movable tabs, once removed reveals a folding case for storing paper documents and correspondence. The sewing kit, housed in a removable cabaret with various compartments, is composed of scissors, needle needle, thimble, sewing punch, pencil case, glass bottle with cap, foldable graduated ruler, four thread winders, four spools and a pincushion cushion, the latter embellished with an embroidered floral composition. The gold tools are adorned with phytomorphic motifs chiseled and punched with the "ram's head" hallmark. Lace loop needle and thread winder (originally set of six) missing. The original label of the production house "Rue St. Honoré, N°.154 MAIRE Ft. de Necessaires DU ROI" is preserved on the back of the mirror. Attached is an appraisal issued in 1980 by the Parisian gallery “La Galerie des Laques”.

Northern Italy, XIX Century

A collection of wood samples from the Charles X era housed in a contemporary wooden case. The case is veneered in walnut burl, striped walnut, and maple, with the latter two types used for the geometric inlays, borders, and trim. The sample collection is arranged on a pair of overlapping shelves, each divided into thirty-five squares, for a total of seventy different types of wood.

19th Century / 1801 - 1900

Porcelain inkwell, with a shaped body entirely enamelled with chinoiserie-style motifs: there are large red flowers on a decorated blue background, on the sides two reserves in which there is a floral composition; the inkwell rests on three feet painted with monstrous faces, also reproduced in the two side handles. In the upper part there are the two ink containers equipped with gilded bronze lids worked with leaf motifs and pinecone-shaped grip; the large grip is also entirely in gilt bronze and worked with Regency-style motifs.

Bamana Art, Mali

A figure of remarkable harmony and formal compactness, with large, rounded breasts that allude to fertility and the ability to nourish, but also to the girl's beauty, which facilitates mating and procreation. The hair is styled in a crest, the eyes are created with two studs, and ethnic scarifications are found on various parts of the body. This statue was adorned with jewelry, as evidenced by the necklace and the holes in the ears used to hang beads. The exquisite patina allows the original color of the wood to shine through, particularly on the breasts and face.

17th Century / 1601 - 1700, 16th Century / 1501 - 1600

Walnut burl veneered cabinet, the uprights on the front, also in walnut wood, are richly carved: starting from the bottom there is a shelf in the shape of a leafy volute, surmounted by a fish, a dolphin according to the imagination of the time, and again from a grotesque mask. In the upper part there is instead a caryatid, in the left upright, while in the right one a telamon, both with facial features that recall the tradition of grotesque masks. The band below the top sees the alternation of reserves veneered in briar with small carved pieces: in the lateral ones there are two profiles of warriors with helmets on their heads, then there are two pieces with weapons, a shield and a quiver of arrows; in the center, finally, an oval coat of arms, without however any identifying elements. The front is occupied by a large opening flap door veneered in briar inside, hiding a chest of drawers consisting of twelve small drawers and two side doors; they are all decorated with carved briar frames. The wrought iron lock is hidden on the outside, but visible on the inside of the door; it has the characteristic lily shape, echoed in the door hinges.

Italy, XVII Century

A pair of carved, painted, and gilded wooden candle-holding angels. The figures are depicted standing, with outstretched wings, and wearing robes with flowing, flowing folds. One hand holds the candle stand, while the other is held at hip height. The surface is primarily gilded, with traces of polychrome in the flesh and in the details of the robes and wings. The bases are shaped like cartouches. Restorations and missing parts.

Belloni family

Small box with opening top, slightly convex urn front with shaped shelf support, decorated on the front with carved tablet, while the rest of the object is simply painted. The front started with four pilasters that create three reserves, the two lateral pilasters have two twisted columns on a blue background, the central pilasters are instead painted with gold candelabra and traces of color on a blue background. In the two lateral reserves, carved in bas-relief in the tablet, two poles around which oak branches are twisted; in the central reserve a quatrefoil motif with flowers and crosses on the sides encloses a laurel wreath with a bow to which a heraldic coat of arms hangs. The coat of arms, a gold band accompanied by 2 circles of the same placed on the bar all over blue, corresponds to the coat of arms of the Belloni family of Venice. In the frame under the top a pattern of successive leaves is painted, on the sides as well as on the foot a simple border with a large blue field; unfortunately the painting of the top is completely lost.

Art Nouveau Chest of Drawers

Chest of drawers, produced by Carlo Zen since 1902, Milan, made of grained mahogany with maple and mother-of-pearl inlays and yellow Verona marble. The first complete chest of drawers of this kind was presented at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative Art in Turin in 1902.

Kingdom of the Two Sicilies First Quarter 19th Century

Gueridon supported by three uprights carved with lion feet and in the upper part with caryatids, to support the undertop band. The female figures are standing, dressed according to the Egyptian taste: they wear a low-cut dress that leaves the breasts uncovered, tightened at the waist by a belt, they wear bracelets and necklaces, while the hair is styled according to the Egyptian taste, with braids that fall neatly on the shoulders. These figures are partly ebonized, to make the skin, while the clothes and details are gilded. The legs are connected by a platform in the shape of a concave triangle. The circular top is in alabaster, enclosed within a cherry veneered frame.

Milan, 1750 ca.

Pair of lamp holders in carved pine wood, lacquered white and partially gilded, supported by a cylindrical rod. Composed of large opposing "C" volutes, they are carved with curls and leaf motifs, embellished with a flowering branch that descends from the upper corolla, a support for the candle. Above the two lights there is a perforated and gilded sheet iron plate.

Group of chairs in black lacquered wood with chromed steel feet. They features visible screws and washers for fixing. Very good condition
