Tripartite elliptical top with green leather inserts, rotating opening of the two lateral elements of the top that give access to open compartments below and central fabric basket. Small Art Nouveau table. Made of mahogany with slightly sabre-shaped legs joined together with a mahogany tray. The mahogany surface is decorated with brass plates with floral motifs, cut and finely engraved.

England Third Quarter 19th Century

Tray table, England, second half of the 19th century. Made of finely chased and gilded bronze with a papier maché top. Four uprights in the shape of a winged dragon with a goat's foot, connected to each other by a crosspiece with a pinnacle, support a top embellished with gilded bronze applications in the rocaille style. The tray is signed "Jennet & Bettridge London" surmounted by a crown. This is one of the most important manufacturers of furniture and objects made of papier maché, a company that has exhibited at the most important universal exhibitions of the 19th century. On the cover of the book "japanned papier maché and tinware" there is a drawing of the Universal Exhibition of 1851, depicting the Jennens & Bettridge stand.
