Deco chest of drawers in walnut and walnut burl, sides and front with two curved doors, inside three drawers veneered in mahogany with maple fillets and hidden handles, turned and carved uprights culminating with a floral composition as in the uprights of the shelf supporting the central mirror. Turned and carved feet, truncated cone. Italy, second quarter of the 20th century.

Oil on canvas. Signature, title, and date in Cyrillic on the back. Viktor Petrovich Rudametkin is a Ukrainian artist who has established himself as a landscape painter and colorist. In this work, using his characteristically vibrant palette, he depicts a peasant mother in the middle of a field of sunflowers, a symbol of life and peace, contrasting with the images of military planes streaking across the sky. Created during the years when Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union, the image can be thought of as a call to peace and a message of hope for the artist's native land, still torn apart by the serious conflict with Russia.

La Libia, un Paese ricco dove il petrolio scorre a fiumi, ma che tra le sue vie e i suoi palazzi nasconde vicende di discriminazione e chiusura sociale. "Le donne del vento arabo" è la storia di un duplice viaggio. Il primo è quello di Bahija, arrivata a Tripoli dal Marocco, con la speranza di raggiungere la Francia, passando per l'Italia, e sfuggire all'umiliazione di sentirsi sempre trattata come una "serva". L'altro viaggio si snoda all'interno delle vite di quattro donne, unite da amicizie di comodo e da uno strano rapporto con la Scrittrice, un personaggio che si insinua nella vita di ognuna e ne coglie il grande desiderio di raccontarsi. Tra le mura del palazzo in cui vivono si mischiano quindi i racconti di donne ripudiate, di seconde mogli obbligate a tenere segreto il loro matrimonio, di violenze e tradimenti inconfessati. Una Tripoli dove le figure femminili devono necessariamente adeguarsi e sottostare a leggi non scritte imposte dagli uomini. Un doppio viaggio documentato da Bahija, che su un barcone della speranza affiderà a un registratore, regalatole dalla Scrittrice, le sue memorie libiche e i suoi sogni di rinascita e libertà, che aspetta di realizzare appena approdata sulla costa italiana.
