Oil on canvas by Gianfranco Campestrini (1901-1979). Signed and dated 1947 in the lower right corner. Campestrini was born and lived in Milan where he taught at the Brera Academy. He used to depict glimpses of Milan, alpine landscapes and glimpses of the Ligurian countryside. This painting might belong to this last series. Relined, it shows light color losses. 1947.

Artist: Gianfranco Campestrini (1901-1979)

Born and raised in Milan and trained at the Brera Academy, Gianfranco Campestrini was part of a family of painters, son of Alcide Davide and brother of Ernesto Alcide Campestrini. He distinguished himself for figure painting and for Alpine and Ligurian landscapes and views. He participated in numerous Italian and foreign reviews and exhibitions, especially those of mountain subjects, a genre particularly dear to him. There are also many personal exhibitions. he was also a figure teacher at a Milanese art school. Its remains are found buried in the Greater Cemetery of Milan.
