Description : Giochi di fanciulli a Roma

A watercolor on paper by Clelia Bompiani Battaglia (1847-1927). The three characters, two young girls and a boy are depicted at the feet of the Spanish steps in Rome. A young girl is playing with pebbles while the other two are watching. The painter, daughter of the painter Roberto Battaglia was student of her father at Accademia di San Luca in Rome. She always preferred using watercolors depicting especially genre scenes of popular life set in cities or in the Roman countryside. Her paintings were appreciated also abroad. 19th century.
