Additional Information

Artist: Edoardo Franceschini (1928-2006)

Born in Catania in 1928, Edoardo Franceschini was a painter and set designer with an eclectic background. He enrolled at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and then moved to Milan in 1956. The following year he exhibited in his first solo exhibition at the Pater Gallery. He spent periods abroad and in Rome, where he collaborated with theaters as assistant set designer. From 1953 he was present in over 120 national and international solo and group exhibitions, among the most important abroad we mention Tokyo, London, Paris, Valencia, Munich, Brussels, Bern. In 1964 he participated in the XXXII Venice Biennale and the XIII Triennale in Milan In the seventies Franceschini approached the ceramic material, training in it in Albissola. Attracted by the new, he then began a series of journeys from one continent to another, ever more attentive to other cultures, in particular by allowing himself to be attracted by the Orient and by Tibetan Buddhism with its thousand-year-old philosophies, which led him to formulate a language. gio ever more magical, almost quintessential, deliberately "beyond" The starting point of each of Franceschini's works is colour, which gives life to the forms of the composition, in continuous windings, signs now punctual now extended, balanced by wider backgrounds that emerge from the structural black.
