Watercolor on paper. Signed at the bottom right. Luigi Bocca was one of the major representatives of Verism in Vigevano, which was part of the Social Art, also called the Art of the Humbles because of the depicted subjects belonging to the lower classes. Art was especially used to denounce their condition. The artist painted also other subjects such as portraits and he was also an interior designer. He studied in Milan and he moved to Chiavari where he frescoes churches and villas. The depicted landscape is an effective view of the mountains with some cows grazing. Fluid and wide brush strokes with blurred outlines. Coeval frame.
