Description : Ritratto di gentiluomo
Oil on canvas. The painting comes from an important Milanese family, the portrait is comparable to Bartolomeo Nazzari's (1693-1758) production, painter from Clusone who was a distinguished portrayist of important personalities. He worked mainly between Bergamo and Venice. The painting depicts a gentleman displaying his arms: the saber on his side and his elmet in the other arm, under the rich jacket. On the left there is the enscription "Il generale Roligni" which refers to a family from Bergamo. The painting is presented in a coeval gilded frame, it can be dated around the end of 18th Century and beginning of 19th Century; on the back of the painting hand enscription which refers to the above-mentioned Milanese family.
